Debra Guo

Environmental Sustainability Manager @ Stella McCartney

“Stella McCartney uses a tool called the Environmental Profit & Loss to measure the total impact that the business has on the environment. This involves mapping all the materials and processes that are carried out to make our products, and understanding the impact of each of these. The majority of SMC impacts are driven by the extraction and production of raw materials that SMC uses – right at the start of SMC supply chain. This is why SMC focus SMC sustainability efforts on the materials they use and the way they source them, phasing out high impact materials and replacing them with more sustainable alternatives, like organic cotton instead of conventional cotton. They have switched all their cashmere to regenerated cashmere which bring %92 reduction in environmental impact comparing virgin cashmere.”
