Textile engineer and businessman. He was born on April 23, 1964 in Gaziantep. He
graduated from Bursa Uludağ University textile engineering department in 1986. Zafer
Kaplan, who is married and has 3 children, worked as the sales manager of various textile
companies abroad for a long time, after graduating from university and living in England for
a while. Later, he returned to Gaziantep in 1996 and started to produce yarn from second-
hand machines with a capacity of 80 tons per month from ready-made garments.
Gama Recycle AŞ managed to become one of the oldest companies in Turkey producing
recycled yarn at that time when textile wastes were burned or thrown away.
In the following years, the production capacity of the company increased to 4,000 tons per
month thanks to new investments.
Trying to generate new ideas for a sustainable world, Zafer Kaplan commissioned the
polyester fiber production facility that recycles waste PET bottles with the investments it
made in 2014.
Currently operating in a closed area of 150.000 m 2 , 3 in the Gaziantep Organized Industrial
Zone and 2 in the Düzce Industrial Zone, the company is the only company with an R&D
center in the recycling sector and exports fiber and yarn to more than 30 countries with its
more than 1000 employees.
Zafer Kaplan, which currently has 25 patents and patent applications, is one of the leading
manufacturers in the textile and recycling sector in Turkey.
